First Gear - STEM Education Initiative
First Gear is a student-led nonprofit dedicated to bringing exciting and engaging STEM activities into the classrooms of socioeconomically disadvantaged elementary students. Founded on the belief that confidence in STEM begins with early exposure, we design lessons that connect with students’ own interests while fostering problem-solving, creativity, and perseverance. By providing opportunities many of these children would not otherwise have, we strive to spark curiosity, build lasting confidence, and encourage them to envision themselves as future scientists, engineers, and innovators. Through the support of college volunteers, First Gear creates meaningful, hands-on experiences that show every child they are capable of succeeding in STEM.
