Accessibility Public Skating
A sensory- and mobility-friendly skating experience where all ages and abilities are welcome.
The Kent State University Ice Arena is proud to offer a dedicated public skating session designed to create a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive environment for individuals of all abilities.

Session Features
To ensure a comfortable and accessible experience, this session will include:
- Accessible on-ice assistance
- Reduced lighting and sound levels
- Clear, visible signage throughout the facility
- Designated quiet space available
- Skate helpers provided by the Ice Arena (while supplies last)
Mobility & Equipment Guidelines
Participants must provide their own mobility aids and helmets.
Acceptable mobility aids include:
- Ice hockey sledge
- Manual wheelchair
- Power wheelchair
- Power scooter
- Approved chairs provided by the Ice Arena.
Important Participation Guidelines:
- Participants using an approved Ice Arena chair must wear skates.
- Participants pushing a manual wheelchair must wear skates.
- Participants using an accessible mobility aid (such as a wheelchair, scooter, or sledge) are not required to wear skates.
On-Ice Support
Volunteers from Kent State Club Hockey and Kent State Figure Skating Club will be on hand to assist families and participants with skating needs throughout the session.
