For nearly 60 years, Porthouse Theatre has brought the power of theatre to the Northeast Ohio community while training the next generation of theatre artists. The annual summer-long program has become a beloved regional icon that produces three musicals, attracts more than 20,000 visitors and employs more than 100 student and professional artists each season. 

This summer, the Kent Blossom Art Intensive program welcomed over 80 artists from around the world, participating across five studio disciplines.

Twenty years ago, 26 Kent State University fashion students packed up and headed to New York City for a semester unlike anything available on a traditional college campus. They attended classes in the heart of Manhattan's Garment District, visited the offices of top designers and connected with industry professionals who would shape their careers. This week, Kent State's School of Fashion celebrated what that bold experiment became.

Kent State alumni are represented in every corner of the fashion capital of the United States. From leading marketing strategy to designing for internationally recognized brands to managing production for iconic labels, their career journeys demonstrate the depth of talent and preparation that defines Kent State.

Porthouse Theatre, Kent State University’s outdoor summer theatre located on the grounds of Blossom Music Center, invites you to its season of possibilities, beginning on June 12, 2026. In its 58th season, Porthouse Theatre will present “Grease,” “Side Show In Concert,” and “Lerner and Loewe's Brigadoon” in the summer of 2026.

Kent State University’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative and College of Architecture and Environmental Design have received a $20,000 award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) through the Grants for Arts Projects program. The funding will support wintertime temporary art installations and a public event on Cleveland’s Veterans Memorial Bridge as part of the NEA’s America250 initiative.
