Kent State's Newest Officer: Dexter, the Explosive-Detection Dog

 

 

Dexter, Kent State University's newest officer and explosive-detection canine, was introduced to the university community on Nov. 19. A male Belgian Malinois, Dexter is ready to patrol Kent State and neighboring communities alongside his handler Officer Miguel H. Witt.

In the newly released rankings, Kent State is once again the highest-ranked public institution in northern Ohio, and with its impressive national ranking of No. 129, the university continues to be recognized among the Top Public Schools in the nation.

The Kent State University Board of Trustees welcomed the Class of 2029 during its regular quarterly meeting held Sept. 17 in the Kent Student Center. The Board congratulated the university administration for this year’s strong enrollment.  

The Kent State University Board of Trustees approved the establishment of two new schools – the School of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering – within the College of Aeronautics and Engineering during the Board’s regular quarterly meeting held June 25, 2025, on the Kent Campus.
