The Kent State Salem Campus paid tribute to community members, faculty, students and staff who are U.S. military veterans during a flag raising ceremony at the new front entrance to the building. Under a beautiful blue sky and with a crisp breeze, members of the Salem AMVETS Post 45 honor guard raised the U.S. flag while Peggy Elliott, a member of the Communiversity Choir, sang the national anthem. Administrative policy regarding unmanned aircraft systems

  1. Purpose. This policy supports the safety and privacy of the university community by establishing restrictions and enabling the enforcement of applicable rules and regulations controlling the use of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), popularly referred to as drones, and model aircraft.  It applies to all university employees and students, and to third parties operating on university grounds.
  2. Definitions. For the purposes of this policy, the following definitions will apply:

  1. Policy statement. As a state university, it is imperative that the university embrace a coordinated and consistent approach to its official dealings with all federal, state, and local government offices, boards and agencies as provided for in rule. Under the direction of the president, the office of government and community relations shall be responsible for the administration of this rule.

Nearly 400 registered guests packed the Kent Student Center Ballroom in April for the 19th annual Office Support Staff Recognition Luncheon. In order to perform necessary maintenance on the boilers, steam transmission systems and electrical distribution systems, Kent State University’s Power Plant will be shut down from 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 15, to 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 22.
