Make a difference: Become a Flashes 101 instructor

Help our newest Golden Flashes start strong in fall 2026 by serving as a Flashes 101 instructor, a meaningful opportunity to shape the Kent State experience for first-year students. This one-credit course is designed to support students as they transition into the university community. It emphasizes connection, community and confidence — and faculty and staff are central to that mission. If you're passionate about supporting first-year students, we invite you to apply by Dec. 19

Call for proposals: Jerry M. Lewis May 4 Lecture

In spring 2021, the Jerry M. Lewis May 4 Lecture Series was created to honor the legacy of Kent State University Professor Emeritus of Sociology Jerry Lewis, Ph.D., and advance the scholarship of May 4, 1970, and the Vietnam War era. Proposals are now being accepted to present the series' fourth lecture on research or scholarship about May 4, 1970, the Vietnam War and its aftermath. The deadline to submit a proposal for consideration to deliver the 2026 lecture is Friday, Jan. 16 at 5 p.m. Visit the lecture proposal website for application criteria and more.
