Kent State Establishes Policies and Procedures for Painting Campus Rock
Kent State University will implement a new administrative policy regarding painting the Rock, which is located on Hilltop Drive on the Kent Campus. The policy, which goes into effect Jan. 11, 2021, is one of the institutional responses to racially offensive language that was painted on the Rock in 2020 and aimed at African American students.

On May 1, 2020, Hylton became the first Black person in the university鈥檚 history to hold the title of vice president for student affairs. Kent State University President Todd Diacon announced Thursday that Lamar R. Hylton, Ph.D., has been selected to serve as vice president for student affairs, effective May 1, 2020.
