The Kent State University Museum brings the work of contemporary fashion designers from two southern African nations to Ohio in a new exhibition. Fashions of Southern Africa is curated by Sara Hume, Ph.D., and runs Aug. 26, 2016-July 2, 2017, in the museum鈥檚 Higbee Gallery. A Lincoln Center display of costume and set designs inspired by Mozart鈥檚 "The Magic Flute" was organized in collaboration with the Kent State University Museum and will soon be on its way to the Kent Campus.

鈥淔ashions of Southern Africa鈥 is curated by Sara Hume, Ph.D., and runs August 26, 2016 - July 2, 2017 in the museum鈥檚 Higbee Gallery. The museum will also host a free preview reception from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 25.
Kent State Museum Hosts "Millie" Preview, Flapper Lecture
The Kent State University Museum and School of Theatre and Dance are teaming up to present a unique event celebrating the perennial glamor and allure of the 1920s. This special program on Feb. 17 is presented in conjunction with the museum鈥檚 鈥淔lapper Style: 1920s Fashion鈥 exhibit and Kent State鈥檚 production of 鈥淭horoughly Modern Millie.鈥 The event will include a short preview of 鈥淭horoughly Modern Millie鈥 by members of the cast, followed by a talk by 鈥淔lapper Style鈥 curator Sara Hume, Ph.D.
Kent State Museum's "Flapper Style" to Highlight 1920s Fashion
The Kent State University Museum will present its new exhibit 鈥淔lapper Style: Fashions of the 1920s鈥 in the museum鈥檚 Broadbent Gallery from Sept. 25, 2015, to Sept. 4, 2016. The museum will also host a special preview reception, featuring drinks and refreshments, on Thursday, Sept. 24. Admission to the reception is $15; to RSVP, please call 330-672-0300.
