As the champagne flowed Oct. 15 in the clubhouse of the National League Champion Washington Nationals, there was a Kent State University connection in the middle of the frenzy that capped the team鈥檚 first trip to the World Series.

Precision Flight Team Qualifies for Nationals
Kent State鈥檚 Precision Flight ranked third overall last week at the Region III Safecon, Competition at The Ohio State University (OSU) securing its place in the national competition. The National Intercollegiate Flight Association (NIFA) SAFECON flight competition, the premier collegiate flight competition with over 500 competitors from more than 30 schools, will be held at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, May 18-23, 2020.

Esports Team Takes the Hearthstone Trophy at First Esports Invitational
Kent State University's Esports team won the Hearthstone finals at the Harrisburg University Esports (HUE) Invitational held in mid-September. The Esports team was among 64 collegiate teams invited to the competition. The team took the Hearthstone champion title, winning against ten other universities.

Student Voting Rate Skyrockets in Recent Years
While student voting nationwide doubled since 2014, the Kent State University student voting rate has increased 135% from 2014 to 2018, according to a recent report from the National Study of Learning, Voting and Engagement, conducted by the Institute for Democracy & Higher Education at Tufts University鈥檚 Tisch College of Civic Life.
