In an effort to expand racial and ethnic diversity in the design fields, Kent State University鈥檚 Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative created Making Our Own Space (MOOS), a design/build program for middle and high school students. The program introduces youth to opportunities in architecture, urban design and landscape architecture.

Elizabeth Koenig is an Honors College senior from Elmore, Ohio, graduating this spring with a major in interior design and a minor in marketing. Though Elizabeth鈥檚 academic focus is design, she was inspired to complete a Senior Honors Thesis based on her original goal to become a teacher. Growing up in a family of educators, Elizabeth says, 鈥淚 thought that鈥檚 what I wanted to do, too.鈥
