Taking Their Stories From Concept to ComicCon
Last summer, 12 Kent State students in the university's Visual Communication Design program worked with Route Eight Studios to learn about the real-world challenges artists face in creating comic books. "Flash Fiction" is the result - an anthology of stories written and illustrated by students creators.
Kent State Filmmakers Earn Oscar-Qualifying Festival Award
Two faculty members from Kent State University鈥檚 School of Media and Journalism have won top honors at the Oscar-qualifying St. Louis International Film Festival for a short film that tackles the complex issue of elder abuse. The film stars Oscar nominee Barkhad Abdi, known for his role in 鈥淐aptain Phillips,鈥 as a rideshare driver who encounters an elderly woman struggling to secure housing after being displaced from a nursing home.
Kent State Entrepreneurship Graduate Creates the Vibe at her New Dance Studio
A dancer from the age of four, Spigelmire knew she wanted to incorporate her love of dance with her desire to be an entrepreneur. And now, Spigelmire is living the dream of owning her own dance studio, The Vibe Dance Company. Spigelmire of Stow not only opened her studio, but she also hired four Kent State students, some of whom she attended dance programs with as a child, to teach at the dance studio.
